Medicare Advantage
Cancer treatment on a Medicare Advantage plan can mean months of coinsurance and copays. A cancer policy pays cash to you on a covered diagnosis, separate from your plan.

This is a limited benefit policy for specified disease (cancer). It is supplemental, specified-disease indemnity insurance, not major medical coverage, and does not replace comprehensive health insurance. Policies typically include a waiting period (for example, 30 days after the effective date) before a diagnosis is covered, pre-existing condition limitations, and specific exclusions or reduced benefits (such as certain non-melanoma skin cancers or carcinoma in situ). See the policy for full details.
Important: Cancer insurance is a limited-benefit, specified-disease supplemental policy. It is not major medical insurance and does not replace health insurance or Medicare. Benefits, waiting periods, limitations, exclusions and availability vary by carrier and state.
Advantage plans set their own cost sharing. During cancer treatment, common costs include coinsurance for chemotherapy drugs and radiation (often Part B services), specialist copays, imaging, inpatient copays and travel to treatment centers.
Every Advantage plan caps yearly in-network Part A and B costs. For 2026 the cap can't exceed $9,250 in-network or $13,900 combined for plans that cover out-of-network care; plans can set lower limits, and KFF reports the average 2026 in-network limit is $5,421. A long course of treatment can reach that cap within a single year, and it resets each January. Part D drug costs have a separate limit.
Medigap plans may cover much of your Part B coinsurance, so a cancer policy is more about cash for non-medical costs. See the comparison.
